05 If Not For You - George Harrison (10-16-92, Madison Square Garden, New York)
06 All I Really Want to Do - Paul Westerberg (4-25-02, KCRW, Santa Monica, CA)
07 Visions of Johanna - The Grateful Dead (4-22-86, Community Theatre, Berkeley, CA)
08 Going, Going, Gone - The GP's/ Richard Thompson (9-27-81, Capitol Theatre, Horsham, Great Britain)
09 It's All Over Now, Baby Blue - Van Morrison (7-9-99, Lorely Open Air Festival, Lorely, Germany)
10 Forever Young - Neil Young with the Grateful Dead (11-3-91, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA)
11 Mr. Tambourine Man - Roger McGuinn and Gene Clark (10-19-77, The Bottom Line, New York)
12 Highway 61 Revisited - Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, and Jackson Browne (11-16-90, Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, CA)
13 Like a Rolling Stone - The Rolling Stones (9-15-97, Toronto Rehearsal Studio, Toronto, Canada)
14 All Along the Watchtower - Lenny Kravitz and Eric Clapton (10-23-99, White House South Lawn, Washington D.C.)
15 I Shall Be Released - U2 and Friends (6-15-86, Meadowlands, East Rutheford, NJ)
16 Blowin' in the Wind - Stevie Wonder (4-3-73, Community Theatre, Berkeley, CA)

A few notes:

05 Why was this not included on the official release of Dylan's 30th Anniversary Concert? "It's unbelievable, it's strange but true..."

08 Final show of Richard Thompson side project featuring Ralph McTell, Dave Pegg, and Dave Mattacks.

09 From the Bill Graham Memorial Concert. I guess Dylan couldn't make it.

13 Crowds seem to bring out the worst in Mick. Here, rehearsing in Toronto, he brings real feeling to this anthem, as opposed to the mere bluster of the concerts that would follow.

15 Amnesty International Concert featuring U2, Sting, and Peter Gabriel, among others.

Due to the many different sources, I am not including lineages. The first and last cuts are audience recordings. "Highway 61" is a matrix. The rest are soundboards or FM.I have done nothing to the original files but normalize the levels and fade in and out on each track (using Cool Edit). Thanks, of course, to the tapers, the original uploaders, and especially the performers and composer. Pdiamond and dsgtrane have been kind enough to create art for the first four volumes, and hopefully one or both of them or someone else will do the same for this one.

FEEL FREE TO PM SUGGESTIONS FOR FUTURE VOLUMES, especially if you are willing to get me files to include. Thanks to those of you who have already made suggestions and sent files; this time out, "All I Really Want to Do" and "Forever Young" came from generous correspondents.

On that note, I am hoping that Volume 8 will feature studio outtakes and demos, but so far am coming up a bit short. I have tracks from George Harrison, The Waterboys, The Walkabouts, Nick Drake (Tanworth-in-Arden), and Elvis Costello (Flip City). If you have others you can share, please PM me.

Wanted Man med Cave är ju fullständigt lysande. Det är ju iofs Cash i original......men fan vad bra det är.
När Cave gör Cover på Helpless är det ju också storartat......mindre intressant när han gör In The Ghetto, men what the heck.
Creation har gjort Like A Rolling Stone, den är bra i deras uppförande....

In The Ghetto är ju kanon.

BT: The Dylan covers Vol. 6: Alt-Country Pie

Nobody Sings Dylan Like Dylan, Vol. 6: Alt-Country Pie
Various Artists

This one kicks off with something special: a never before heard soundboard recording of Alejandro Escovedo doing "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues," from my friend Butterking of JEMS. The story behind it is that I attended the show at Seattle's tiny Hattie's Hat with Butterking, was blown away by the intensity and intimacy of Alejandro's performance, and have been trying to get a copy of the show from BK ever since. In honor of this project, he has provided this track, and promises to share the entire show when time permits. As for the rest, they are all soundboards or FM, and all roughly qualify as alt-country--that is, if you saw an article about any of these artists in No Depression, it wouldn't be a complete surprise. (OK, maybe David Allan Coe, but Dylan did play him on his radio show last week.)

As always, thanks to the tapers, the original uploaders, folks who've sent me suggestions and files, and especially the performers and composer. FEEL FREE TO PM SUGGESTIONS FOR FUTURE VOLUMES, especially if you are willing to get me files to include. If anyone has a recording of Ben Harper and the Blind Boys of Alabama doing "Well, Well, Well" at the Apollo (or elsewhere) and can get it to me--thanks in advance! Pdiamond and dsgtrane have been kind enough to create great artwork for the first five volumes, and hopefully one or both of them or someone else will do the same for this one. Due to the many different sources, I am not including lineages. I have done nothing to the original files but normalize the levels and fade in and out on each track (using Cool Edit). Enjoy!

Wanted Man med Nick Cave är nog min favoritdylancover... andra som förtjänar nämnas är Nobody 'Cept You med 16 Horsepower, Si tu dois partir med Fairport Convention och Girl of the North Country med Conor Oberst, M. Ward & Jim James.

och här är # 7 i coverserien:

BT: The Dylan covers Vol. 7: The Ladies Treat Me Kindly

Nobody Sings Dylan Like Dylan, Vol. 7: The Ladies Treat Me Kindly
Various Artists

NOTE: With apologies to KT Tunstall, I have removed her version of "Tangled Up in Blue." I downloaded this from DaD many months ago, but she has since released it and it has been banned. Otherwise, this is the same torrent as previously uploaded.

Over the first six volumes of this series, the men have gotten considerably more coverage than the women, so I thought I'd right that wrong with this collection. The first eight tracks are soundboards or FMs; tracks 9-15 are very good or excellent audience recordings. For those of you who don't know them (I didn't), Barb Jungr is an English cabaret singer, and Thalia Zedek has sung with the alternative/avant garde bands Come, Live Skull, and Uzi.

02 I'll Be Your Baby Tonight - Norah Jones (2-28-02, KCRW Studios, Santa Monica, CA)
03 Make You Feel My Love - Joan Osborne (10-29-02, The Catalyst, Santa Cruz, CA)
04 I'll Keep it with Mine - Richard and Linda Thompson (5-17-82, The Bottom Line, New York, NY)
05 Visions of Johanna - The Walkabouts (1-19-01, Experience Music Project, Seattle, WA)
06 You're a Big Girl Now - Thalia Zedek (10-06-04, Quasimodo, Berlin, Germany)
07 Like a Rolling Stone - Barb Jungr (9-26-05, The Barbican Theatre, London)
08 You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go - Madeleine Peyroux (2-18-05, KCRW Studios, Santa Monica, CA)
09 Most of the Time - Ani DiFranco (8-28-97, New World Music Theater, Tinley Park, IL )
10 Don't Think Twice - Susan Tedeschi (11-03-06, The Ram's Head, Baltimore, MD)
11 Hard Rain - Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians (4-26-91, Bronco Bowl, Dallas, TX)
12 Dark Eyes - Patti Smith (6-05-01, Village Underground, New York, NY )
13 Knockin' On Heaven's Door - Tracy Chapman (10-6-05, Roseland Theater, Portland, OR )
14 Masters of War - Lucinda Williams (11-21-03, Fillmore West, San Francisco, CA)
15 Blowin' in the Wind - Dolly Parton (10-06-05, Colorado Convention Center, Denver, CO)

Missa inte "Masters of War" med Lucinda Williams!!

volym 8:

BT @ Dime: The Dylan covers, Vol. 8: Get Your Rocks Off!

Nobody Sings Dylan Like Dylan, Vol. 8: Get Your Rocks Off!
Various Artists

A little while back, someone PM'd me suggesting a rockin' volume of the NSD series. Here it is... I hope it rocks sufficiently!

For those of you who don't know it, the third track, "Walk Out in the Rain," was co-written by Dylan and backup singer Helena Springs in 1978. Dylan has never released the song himself.

Special thanks this time to Thomas Storch and Sixties Guy Dan, each of whom sent me CDs full of their favorite Dylan covers. Thanks as well to all the other folks who've sent me suggestions and files, along with the tapers, the original uploaders, and especially the performers and composer. Pdiamond and dsgtrane have been kind enough to create great artwork for the first six volumes, and hopefully one or both of them or someone else will do the same for this one. Personligen är jag svag för Lay Lady Lay med Magnet & Gemma Hayes.
